This would also mean that a perfect beeline for Mega-Engineering would neglect to get bigger ship technologies. Having one less technology prerequisite helps non-beelining playstyles, especially the random walk of the AI, fulfill the prerequisites of Mega-Engineering sooner.This compensates for adding prerequisites to specific megastructures (see point #2).The Battleships technology is removed from the prerequisites, as compensation for added individual technology requirements (see below).
The main Mega-Engineering technology gets less restrictive requirements.This substantial divide in outcome is a consequence of the megastructure technology tree having a restrictive root (prerequisites) followed by an expansive crown (Galactic Wonders aside, there are no more prerequisites).Ī different approach could give us better gameplay (and improved AI performance). If you do not beeline or technology rush, Mega-Engineering can instead take until the endgame to reach. If you consciously beeline the same dozen technologies to reach Mega-Engineering, and technology rush, you can begin researching all megastructures after only a few decades. Once you have them, every megastructure (sans those that require Galactic Wonders) become researchable.
